Marta Leo talks about AR and VR with Kamala Magazine.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are two very different technologies which are parallel and will be even more complementary to each other.

The Virtual Reality (VR – Virtual Reality) was born more than 30 years ago (I remember I tried one of the first virtual machines just arrived in Italy  in ninety years.  Nowadays the difference comes from the hardware (motherboard, processor, ram and more) which will make the environment more and more real. IBM, Google, Intel and other big companies are working on quantum chip as, due to the new chips, our reality will be put to the test compared to a virtuality very close to real.

We will be deeply involved 360° in virtual scene (thanks to devices such as:  Hololens, HTC, Oculus, Google Card Board and more) made of many elements whit which we will be able to interact, where the final aim in the next few years, will be to satisfy the 5 senses in order to offer a “synthetic” reality which is Real anyway.Marta Leo

The Augmented Reality (AR – Augmented Reality) is a technology instead, which was born 7 years ago. I was one of the first to offer it in Italy at Smau Milan 6 years ago, as I worked with a company in San Francisco called Metaio where I learnt if it, and which has been took over Apple in 2015. It is a technology that, thanks to its versatility, can be used in every field. Nintendo has used it in the popular game Pokemon Go for example.

What is it? I personally define it as a third eye, thanks to which I can have more information (and also interact with them: the IPhone X for example, has the facial recognition and it has been created to take advantage from the augmented reality)

In the IOT field in the next 15 years, AR and VR will merge in a lot of fields. One of the closest scenery where we will see the AR and the VR to help each other, will surely be the social network one.

Facebook (see Facebook Spaces), WhatsApp, Instagram and others will integrate the two technologies in a more and more intrusive way within its platforms, in order to make them real and real with one only aim: let us live emotions.  After all even today we communicate emotions through short messages: let’s imagine to do it in a virtual environment where we will even be able to shake a hand and maybe to feel the touch in the future.

This is exactly where we want to arrive: to feel real emotions in virtual environments more and more real.
